Ajay Kumar Swarup, Founder Director

Ajay Swarup, a well-respected player in the business community heads the 74 year old Globus Spirits Ltd., one of the leading alcohol producing and trading companies in Northern india. The group started its operations in 1932 with sugar manufacturing. Mr. Swarup has been involved with Gandhi Polytechnic, a vocational training institute since 1975 and is a member of the Board of Governors of the DAV School Society. Ajay’s education has been in one of India’s finest schools - The Doon School in Dehradun, followed by distinctive stints as St. Stephen’s College in New delhi and the Indian Institute of management, Calcutta.

Gautam Sen Gupta, Founder Director

Educated in the Doon School in Dehradun, Gautam’s higher studies were at the Indian Institute of technology, Kharagpur, and the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. He is the promoter of Market Vision research and Consulting services, a company that has established itself as a leading, credible provider of market-based information since its establishment in Dubai in 1997. Prior to setting up of Market Vision, Gautam has worked with the Tata Administrative Service, seconded to the Taj Group of Hotels, India, for a period of 18 years.

Tahsin Zahid, Director & CEO

Tahsin is an MBA from IPM, Lucknow University with Post Graduate certification from the IIM-C. He has 14 years of experience in vocational education sector in India and has been instrumental in establishing Wigan and Leigh College, IILM, Maples and SBCS Institute.

He has been an advisor to the International School of Marketing Communications and is the recipient of Young Achievers Award 2006, for his contributions in the area of vocational education.

GRAS Academy is an initiative of graduates from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta who share a common desire to bring about social change by empowering the unemployed and out - of - work youth with vocational skills and make them ‘Eduployable’ [Educated  Employable], capable of earning a livelihood and support their families.

GRAS Academy was launched in 2006, primarily as a training institute oriented towards the hospitality and retail sectors in large metropolitan areas. Over the last two years, as we created and developed successful programs in these areas, our goals also evolved in recognition of the fact, that an increasing number of youth in smaller cities and towns may have completed schooling, but few have marketable skills. As a result, many remained unemployed or were forced to seek employment in the large urban areas, far from their families and support systems.

In 2008, GRAS launched its specialist division - Skill Development and Employment Centres (SD & EC), an expansion to encompass skill-development across a variety of industry verticals in which skills were increasingly needed in smaller cities and towns.

It is our hope and belief that such skill-development opens doors to newer options for youth, increase their income generation potential, help them in utilization of prior education and personal talents, motivate them to participate in productive activity and expose them to a variety of subjects to choose the option of expressing personal preference and ability thus helping them in acquiring a secured employment close to home.

The Government of India’s recent initiative policy – The National Skill Development Mission, aimed at ‘empowering all individuals to enable them to get access to decent employment and to promote inclusive national growth’ calls for public-private partnership to ensure that its goals are met.

'We are proud to be a partner in the process of skills creation and empowerment of our youth, and hope our endeavours will assist in social inclusion becoming a reality in our nation.

GRAS VET offers vocational training modules in the Hospitality, Retail and Spoken english, complemented with life-skills, for youth, seeking training in order to become more 'Eduployable’ [Educated  Employable]. It also offers companies’ tailor-made programs to upgrade existing staff skill levels and recruit new staffs with basic essential skills.
